Glencruitten Hostel provides accommodation for young people attending Oban High School from Colonsay, Coll, Iona, Ross of Mull, Lismore, Kerrara, Shuna, Easdale Island, Seil, Luing, Portsonachan and Bridge of Orchy.
Argyll and Bute Council provides accommodation within two school hostels, Glencruitten Hostel and Dunoon School Hostel in accordance with Sections 49 and 50 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 These statutory provisions are in place to ensure that children are not disadvantaged in their educational opportunities due to the remoteness of their homes
Glencruitten Hostel aims to create a caring, inclusive and positive environment where every young person feels safe, valued and at home. Staff are committed to providing the encouragement, guidance and support young people need to thrive during their time at Oban High School.
Opening Times
Glencruitten Hostel operates throughout the school year, with opening times reflecting the different travel requirements of our island and rural communities. The hostel is fully staffed throughout the school week with a small a staff team on a Sunday providing care, supervision and support.
Opening times
April to October:
Sunday from 3.00pm until Friday at 6.00pm.
November to March:
Sunday from 3.00pm until Saturday at 10.00am.
