This annual trip is the highlight of many pupils experience in high school. Pupils in S5 have to go through an interview process to get in. Oban is matched with Laurinburg in North Carolina, America. This trip has been running for nearly 30 years. For two weeks the American pupils come to Scotland and stay with their matched partner to experience a taste of Scottish culture in June and in October Scottish students go over to do the same.
Each year during the summer term, a group of students and teachers embark on a memorable journey to visit significant First World War battlefields and memorials, including those in Passchendaele and Ypres. This immersive experience allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the global impact of WWI, including its connections to Oban and beyond. Through exploring these historic sites, students engage in learning that brings history to life, fostering reflection and a greater appreciation for the sacrifices made during this pivotal time in history.
