At Oban High School, learning and teaching sit at the heart of everything we do.
This policy sets out what effective learning looks like in our classrooms — lessons that are active, engaging, inclusive, and built on positive relationships.
It highlights how teachers and pupils work together to create lessons that connect to prior learning, promote independence, and encourage reflection. The policy also explains the five key components of a great lesson — connecting learning, clear success criteria, active learning, demonstrating understanding, and reviewing progress.
Guided by our school values of Compassion, Ambition, Respect, and Resilience, we aim to make every learning experience purposeful, supportive, and inspiring. This policy reflects our shared belief that great learning happens when everyone feels valued, challenged, and ready to succeed.
